In West Bengal, before this revision, there were about 7.66 crore (7,66,37,529) voters as per the January 2025 list.
But there were many complaints about mistakes in the list – like duplicate names, dead people’s names, or shifted voters. That’s why the ECI started the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). This was last done in West Bengal in 2002. Now in 2025, this special revision has been done to make the list completely clean for the 2026 elections.
What Was the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)?
SIR means going house-to-house to verify. This process started on November 4, 2025. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) went to every home and gave a special form. This form had voter details – name, age, link to family from the 2002 old voter list, photo, etc.
Voters had to fill the form, sign it, and give it back to the BLO. If the form was received and correctly filled, the name stays in the draft list. If the form was not collected (like empty house, person died, or shifted), the name could be deleted.

When Was the Draft Voter List 2026 Published?
According to the latest news, the Draft Electoral Roll is being published today, December 16, 2025. It will be available online by noon. You can check on official websites.
This is a draft, meaning it’s not final. Now people will check it, and if there are mistakes, they can file complaints. Claims and objections will be accepted until around January 15 or 17, 2026. After that, there will be hearings, and the final voter list will be published in February 2026.

Online Check:
- Go to the official website: https://voters.eci.gov.in
- Or CEO West Bengal site: https://ceowestbengal.nic.in (or related district sites)
- There will be options like “Search Your Name” or “Download Draft Roll”.
- Enter your EPIC number (Voter ID number), or search by name, father’s name, age, district.
- To download the full PDF, select district and assembly constituency, then polling station-wise PDFs.
- You can also use the Voters app or E-NET app on your phone.
Offline Check:
- Meet your area’s Booth Level Officer (BLO). They have a copy of the draft list.
- You can also get help from Booth Level Agents (BLA) of political parties.
- Go to the District Election Office or your polling booth to see it.

What to Do If Your Name is Not in the Draft List?
Don’t worry. Many people’s names are missing because their form was not collected or not linked to the 2002 list (about 31 lakh people may get hearing notices).
What to do:
- Fill Form 6 (for new inclusion) and attach Annexure-IV (declaration).
- Give this form to your BLO, or submit online at voters.eci.gov.in, or via the E-NET app.
- Provide documents like Aadhaar, birth proof, address proof, and proof of Indian citizenship.
- Attend the hearing when you get a notice. Explain there that you are eligible.
- Do all this by January so your name gets into the final list.
Important: New voters (who turned 18) also need to apply with Form 6.
